ABOUT ALEX

Hi there! My name is Alexandra Ruiz and I am a Senior at Florida International University set to graduate with my Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a certificate in Leadership Studies in the Spring of 2020.

During the past 4 years, I have struggled in finding what my future calling is. I like many different things but I was never able to make a decision on what I wanted my future to look like. At times this made me self-conscious and fearful of not having a specific plan for my life. But, I am learning to be okay with that. To gain experience as I go, work hard in whatever I am doing, and learn from everyone I am surrounded by.

My interests are many. I am passionate about social justice and activism. I am passionate about helping make my community the best it can be, which means giving everyone the same opportunities to be the best they can be. I am passionate about research, learning and understanding a bit more about someone's life simply by listening and writing. At times asking questions, but always with an open-mind. I hope that in whatever I am doing, whether it be working at a non-profit organization fighting for immigrant rights and education, or if I am a teacher, that I am giving back to the community that has made me who I am.
